Lomilomi

Body & Energy Work

Lomilomi is Ancient Hawaiian Shamanic Bodywork. It is based in the premise that the body, mind, and spirit are three parts of a unified system (trinity), and each of these is a key element in conscious evolution and healing (remembrance). These three components are reflected in the concept of “the triune soul” - consisting of the Unihipili (friendly unconscious - body), the Uhane (conscious free will - thinking mind), and the ‘Aumakua (superconscious - higher Self / Divine Will).

The action we take to align ourselves for Lomilomi is to use our conscious will to surrender our unconscious self to Divine Will. This simple practice can be used at any point in our day to bring ourselves into alignment - with conscious awareness on the breath, centered at our heart, whispering the prayer and intention, “I will my will to Thy Will”.

The connecting point for these three aspects of self is the Sacred Space of the Heart (pu’uwai), where the breath guides us to return. The “Ha” (breath) is a fundamental component of this process, so light breathwork and breath awareness weaves into the structure of Lomilomi.

The well-known Hawaiian word, Aloha, is rich with many layers of meaning – far more than a simple greeting or farewell. One of the more beautiful meanings of Aloha is “The Breath of God is in our Presence.” In Hawaiian culture, a deep connection and relationship with the breath is paramount to living a life connected with God. Love is the central component of this work – both giver and receiver of a Lomi session surrender the thinking mind and inner resistances, allowing ourselves to become vessels for the Aloha Spirit (the Holy Spirit or the Spirit of Love), to move through and perform the work that is required. Intentional breathing is used to enter the “Pō”, which is the empty space or void that we can access through deep states of meditation, beyond our conscious awareness. From this place, we are more receptive to the healing potential of Love.
